Union Races

Constructed out of the simplest material – metal, rock, concrete and wood – obstacles you’ll face at Union’s events will push the limits of your fitness comfort zone. Unite with your family to face these fun challenges head-on. At the finish, you’ll be on your back, staring at the sky with a smile of achievement on your face.

Here are details on each Union Race in Medicine Hat, Alberta and Elkwater, Cypress Hills:

Conquer the Coulee- Medicine Hat's Premiere obstacle course rate. Held in beautiful Kin Coulee Park this event is for all ages. There will be podium awards for the top 3 finishers in each age group. There will also be non-timed fun heats. These are great for individuals, families or groups that just want to experience the course but not be held to the structured rules of competitive heats.

Union Trail Run 5k/10k- The day after Conquer the Coulee there will be a 5k and 10k trail race in and around Kin Coulee Park. It is a mix of trail, path, hills and cross country. The event will be full timed for all competitors and open to all ages. Medals will be awarded to all competitors. Youth 13 and under race for FREE!

Union All-Terrain Obstacle Course- Hosted at Hidden Valley Ski Resort in Elkwater, Alberta. This event is great for the first timer or the seasoned athlete. The course is packed with obstacles to challenge all abilities. The competitive classes will start at 9am. Timed heats with age group podium awards will start the day followed by the family fun heats.

Back Country Trail Run and Mountain Bike Race - These races complement the obstacle course race from the previous day. A 5k trail run starting at Hidden Valley Ski Resort and running through the beautiful terrain and trails of Cypress Hills Provincial Park. It will be open to all ages and there will be age group competitive categories. After the 10am trail run is complete the 11am mountain bike race begins. Length is approximately 10k. It is open to all age groups and will have age group awards.

Conquer the Ridge - Medicine Hat's Premier 1/2 marathon. Starting at Echo Dale park, winding through the coulees to the top of the river valley. From there is follows the ridge back to the city. It is a great race with spectacular views. 10k and 5k options are also available. Youth 13 and under race for FREE!

Great Pumpkin Run - This fun 5k/10k race will be held in Police Point Park in Medicine Hat, Alberta. Participants are encouraged to dress up in their favorite Halloween costume. Open to all ages, it will be a timed race with medals for all competitors. Bring your friends and family and come have a great time!
