Echo Dale ParkThere is a swimming lake, boating lake, playground, pioneer home and lots of biking trails. There is also a concession available. Swim lake is open 11am-7pm, admission $0. |
Police Point ParkThis is a Medicine Hat hidden gem. Right along the river is one of the largest parks with lots of trails and areas to explore on foot or with bikes. There is also an interpretive centre, where there's often fun activities happening. |

Esplanade MuseumIf you need something low-key that will still keep the kids interested visit the Museum at the Esplanade Arts & Heritage Centre. There's lots of interactive displays and buttons and Pay What You Will entry fee, means you choose what to pay, which makes it affordable for everyone! |
Swirls Ice CreamA local favorite Swirls Ice Cream is a great stop between activities. Located near downtown there are a few picnic tables on-site or take it to go to Kin Coulee park where there's lots of space to run and a few playground options. |
Medicine Hat Farmers MarketEvery Saturday, 9am-1pm May 18-October. Find local produce, handicrafts and unique products- it's all 100% homemade, home baked & home grown. There's often live music and a concession open. Find something unique to take home! |
ElkwaterA 45-minute drive out of Medicine Hat, Elkwater in the Cypress Hills is a great spot for the day. There's a swimming beach, kayak rentals, lots of hiking trails, and a couple of food options. |
Big Marble Go CentreGyms with nerf wars, basketball, wave pool and even a rattlesnake waterslide, Big Marble Go Centre always has lots of activity options! Check out their calendar for what's happening for activities this weekend. A day pass is $26/family. |
BowlingClassic family night with a twist! Get some glow bowling in every Friday and Saturday night at Panorama Lanes. They have a kids play area, pool tables and a full menu too. Kids 15 and under, get 2 FREE Games of bowling each day during the Spring and Summer (until Aug 31st- after it's $6.50/youth) Adults pay $7/game. |
Etzikom Windmill MuseumIf you are interested in taking a drive (approx. 1 hr) you could visit Etzikom Windmill Museum. The Windmill site shows the history of wind power in Canada. The museum allows you to get close to the artefacts with explanations on their significance. Don't forget to try some ice cream and pie! Admission is $10/adult and $5-$2 for kids. |
Hoopla's Mini GolfFun for all ages Hoopla's Mini Golf is a great little course that offers beautiful views of the river valley. They have a special family rate too, only $33. |
Sunshine TrolleyThis is a fun experience for all ages and a great way to see lots of Medicine Hat highlights. Now with local guides to tell the stories of Medicine Hat. Children 12 years and under ride FREE! Adults are $20 and must accompany children. |
John's Butterfly HouseThis is fun as long as your kids aren't afraid of insects! You can see some pretty neat exotic butterflies and maybe a couple of snapping turtles. Admission is $10/adult, $8/youth, $6/children, 2 and under are Free. |
Family GolfIf your kids are old enough to swing a club this is the course for you! Beautiful Paradise Valley is a par 3, great for families. We have a family golf package that'll save you 50% on green fees too. Regular rates for 9-holes are $20/adult and $10/junior. Club rentals are $15 ea. |
SpeedwayMedicine Hat Speedway has races almost every weekend. It's worth it to go early as fans can go on the track to see the cars up close and meet the drivers (some of them giveaway goodies too!). If you have little kids maybe bring some ear plugs, when the cars thunder by the stands it can get loud. Admission is only $20/adult and $10/12-7 years and under 6 FREE. |
Dunmore DugoutTrampoline park, laser tag, arcade, rock wall and more! If the kids need to burn some energy, this is the place! Individual actitivies range $8-$14, a wristband for multiple things is $14-$35. |
Virtual RealityEnter another world when you try out the virtual reality at SixOneSix Entertainment. Individual or group games available, try travel, mini games or battle some zombies with your friends! There's a couple of different ways to play, alone or free roam, $25 for 30 min/person. (SixOneSix also has axe throwing and a golf simulator) |
